演題:Promise and Potential of Fluorescent Nanodiamonds for Biomedical Applications

⽣物医学応⽤のための蛍光ナノダイヤモンドの可能性

演者: Dr. Huan-Cheng Chang, Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan

Over the past few decades, fluorescent nanoparticles have played an important role in fueling new discoveries in all fields of science from physics, chemistry to biology. However, there has been a lack of biocompatible and photostable markers for biomedical applications.  Invented in 2005, fluorescent nanodiamonds (FNDs) are carbon-based nanoparticles containing a high-density ensemble of point defects (such as the negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy center, NV) as the light emitters.  They have drawn a great deal of attention since the invention and their development potential and applications in the life sciences are proving to be manifold and vast. I will present in this lecture the recent advances of the FND-based technologies in our lab, including specific cell labeling, long-term cell tracking, in vivo imaging, and drug evaluation.
